Editorial policy and corrections

This is how the Verhuurhaven editorial team works: which sources we use, how we keep guidance current, what that guidance covers and how you report an error.

What this policy is

This policy describes how the articles and explanatory texts on this site are written, substantiated and updated. It describes only what we do today.

The texts are written by the Verhuurhaven editorial team. We do not publish under a personal name.

Which sources we use

  • Factual statements about rules, points and rents are substantiated with Dutch primary sources: Rijksoverheid, the Huurcommissie, the Belastingdienst, wetten.overheid.nl, EP-Online and the WOZ valuation portal.
  • For such a statement we link in the running text to the source page it rests on, with the date we consulted that page.
  • We publish no figure, amount or deadline that we cannot point to in one of those sources.

How we keep articles current

  • Every article visibly states when it was published and, if anything changed, when it was updated.
  • When an article has checked sources, they sit below the text: the authority, the link and the date we last opened the source.
  • For each of those sources we also record a next review date. An automated check at build time fails when a source record is incomplete or when that review date has passed, so lapsed substantiation cannot stay up unnoticed.

What this guidance covers, and what it does not

The articles give general information about letting in the Netherlands. They are not legal or tax advice and do not account for your specific situation.

The outcome of the WWS rent check is an indication based on the data you enter. It is not a ruling by the Huurcommissie: in a dispute about the rent, the Huurcommissie or the court decides.

Points, amounts and deadlines depend on the date and the rule version. For a specific contract, always check the version that applies at that moment.

Reporting an error

Spotted an error, an outdated rule or a source that no longer holds? Email hallo@verhuurhaven.nl and name the page and the passage you mean.

We hold the report against the primary source. If the report is right, we correct the text and the source record, and the article gets a new updated date.
